Membership in the HFSC

Everybody is welcome to become a member.
 
One of the main purposes of the HFSC is to unite people keen on the history of castles, fortresses, urban fortifications, fortified lines and other kinds of fortifications. Membership of the HFSC is open to anyone, not only a scientist.
 
We try to make our conferences and expeditions to old fortifications interesting enough not only for professional researchers but for wide circles of amateurs as well. We try to make interesting material easily understood by an ordinary person.
 
Having become a member of the HFSC, you receive some favours and gifts and make for the study and preservation of defensive monuments. The favours and gifts valid during one year include:
  • a 50% discount on the participation in the conferences of the HFSC;
  • a 50% discount on the participation in scientific-cognitive outgo events;
  • a 25% discount on the journal "Questions of the History of Fortification”;
  • a possibility to buy books on castles and fortresses from some publishing houses at selling prices or with a considerable discount (up to 20%);
  • the HFSC help in acquiring foreign books on the history of fortification;
 
Members of the HFSC receive a membership card with his/her name in it, valid for one year. The membership fee for the year 2010 is 40 EURO. It is to be paid through the bank or through the system Yandex.Money, account 41001414901950 (in the field "Message to the receiver” don’t forget to write down your name and surname as well as that it is the membership fee to the HFSC). Honorary membership can be given to
  • a person who has defended a kandidate or doctorate thesis on the subject connected with the history of fortification;
  • an author of at least two monographs on the history of fortification.
 
An honorary membership card is permanent and given free of charge; besides favours offered by an ordinary membership card, it allows its owner to participate in all the activities of the HFSC free of charge. However, before receiving an honorary card one has to give a plenary lecture on the subject of his/her specialisation.
